macOS 27 Golden Gate was released on 14 September 2026, the date Apple's security releases page lists for it; endoflife.date gives the same day. Apple's compatibility list for it has 35 entries; some entries name more than one model, such as Mac mini (M6 or M5 Pro), so entries are not a count of models. Apple's macOS Tahoe 26 list has 37 entries.
Four entries are on the Tahoe list and not on the new one:
- MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019)
- MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
- iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020)
- Mac Pro (2019)
MacIQ's records show all four as Intel Macs: MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019), MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports), iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020) and Mac Pro (2019), as the tower and the rack model.
Apple's new list also names Mac mini (M6 or M5 Pro) and Mac Studio (M5 Max or M5 Ultra), which the Tahoe list does not.
